Academic Challenge |
This
is a group of students who attend Academic Challenge meets where they
compete with other schools to answer questions in different categories
such as foreign languages, literature and mathematics. |

Band (Concert, Marching, Pep, Jazz) |
Concert band is
offered to all students who play band instruments as a .75 credit
course. They prepare concerts for school and community presentations.
Concert band rehearses from November through May. The student will have
a sectional rehearsal once a week during the months of September and
October. Concert band students will also participate in one half-time
show during the marching band season and perform in the marching band
concert at the end of the marching band season.
Marching band is open to all students who play brass and percussion
instruments. It is a 1 credit course and the student must also
play in the concert band. Half-time productions during football
season, festivals, and parades are the main focus. The school
provides marching band instruments for woodwind players.
Pep band is open to those who played in marching band. Pep band
plays at basketball games while the varsity is warming up. It is all
volunteer and does not provide any high school credit.
Jazz band is open to anyone who plays a jazz instrument. Jazz
band practices once a week and perform a couple times a year at the
concerts. Jazz band does not provide any high school credit. |

Eucharistic Minister |
All seniors have
the choice to become a Eucharistic Minister, someone who distributes
Eucharist at mass. They must write a paper, attend monthly
meetings and also attend weekend masses in order to become one. |

Firelands Challenge |
This is an opportunity for the best musicians and singers
to get together from the schools in the Firelands Conference and put
together a concert. The participants are selected for the
Conference by their teachers. |

Folk Group |
The Folk Group is
a group of students who meet once a week to rehearse songs to sing at
the student masses. Besides singing, some play guitar and other
instruments. |

Hugh O'Brien Youth Foundation |
Each year two
juniors are picked to attend HOBY. To be picked you must write an
essay about an assigned topic. |
|
Key Club |
Key Club is a club
consisting of about 100 students who participate in various service
activities throughout the year. Some activities include
babysitting for church on Sunday mornings, Easter egg hunts, nursing
home visits and various fundraisers. |
|
National Honor Society |
To be a National
Honor Society member one must excel in the following: leadership,
academics, character and community service. They must have a 3.5 cumulative
to be considered, fill out an application listing leadership roles and
community service and be a junior or senior. The faculty chooses
members based on these applications. Once a member, they are to help
with various service activities throughout the community and continue to
be good leaders. |

Peer Tutoring |
This is an oppurtunity for students to either recieve tutoring or help
to tutor others in spare time. |
|
Post-Seconday Options |
This available to
juniors and seniors who wish to take college classes at Firelands
College. See Mrs. French or Mr. Klausing for further info. |

Reach Our Youth |
This is a program for older kids to 'adopt' a younger
brother or sister. They help this child with their homework and
also play with them and do various activities. |

Rock Climbing Club |
The Rock Climbing
Club is a group of students who get together about once a week and make
use of the rock climbing wall in the Monroe Street gym. |

School Newspaper |

Spring Musical |
The Spring Musical
is held every year in late March. Students may try out for parts
and based on the try outs determines which part the student receives.
There are mandatory practices for those involved. Other parts
besides acting and singing in the musical include backstage and lights.

Student Council |
Student Council
consists of four elected students for each class. Student Council
puts together different occasions throughout the year such as Homecoming
and Spirit Week. |

Team Managers |
Team managers help
the coaches and players out by taking statistics, helping organize, and
other odds and ends. Managers do receive sports letters at the end
of the season. |
|
Teens Encounter Christ |
This is open to
juniors and seniors. It is a spiritual retreat held in Carry, Ohio
several times a year. There are boys and girls TECs. To find dates
and information or to sign up see Mrs Fitzgerald or Mrs Krystowski. |

Yearbook |
The yearbook is a
committee of students who take this class as an elective for 1 credit
course. They take pictures of the students, teachers, and school
activities and put together a yearbook for the current school year.
They also find sponsors to help defray the cost of the yearbook. |
